Yesterday, the KPop group, BTS, attended the United Nations’ 73rd General Assembly to talk about their advocacy “Love Myself,” in partnership with UNICEF to promote self-love for the youth and end violence among them.
BTS always tells their fans, the ARMYs to love themselves, and by that, they really mean it. Because during BTS’ speech at the UN’s 73rd General Assembly, Kim Nam-joon aka RM, addressed the youth and encouraged them – that no matter their race, color, and gender preference, to stop listening to the voice of others, and listen to their own. In their speech, he urges the youth to “Speak Yourself.”

“True love first begins with loving yourself.”
RM also shared his personal experience during their speech. He shared that he had once forgotten who he is by listening to what others say about him. He admits that he was lost because he wanted to fit into the molds of what would please others.
“These faults and mistakes are what I am, making up the brightest stars in the constellation of my life. I have come to love myself for who I am, for who I was, and for who I hope to become,” said RM.
Nowadays, self-love could mean a lot of things to different people. It could be splurging on the latest fan merch or partying with your friends on the weekends. But self-love could be so much bigger. In fact, it could change the world just by spreading positivity – starting with yourself.
BTS members V, Jungkook, Jimin, RM, J-Hope, Suga, and Jin raised over $1million as part of their UNICEF “Love Myself” global campaign. In addition, they will also donate a portion of their income from album sales to the campaign. The funds will be generated from 3% of the income from the sales of physical albums of the Love Yourself series and 100% of the income from the sales of official goods for the Love Myself campaign. The #ENDViolence campaign promises a better future for children and to ensure their safety and protection from all forms of violence.
South Korea’s best-known group is famed for their bop music that fans all over the globe love. Their influence among the youth is at its peak as their albums sell millions worldwide. This time, BTS gets out of their hip outfits and hopped in their suits to use their influence to speak to the youth.
