Wouldn’t you just love to hear someone compliment you with, “That highlight though!” whenever you step out with your face beat? A blinding highlight is definitely a trick to step up your makeup game, but making it pop in the sun can be a struggle if you don’t know how to apply it.
So here are three super easy tricks to make your highlight pop in all your selfies!
3. Use a lip balm or gloss as base
This is a trick we’ve learned from the actress, Zendaya in her app. Besides her talent in acting, dancing, and singing, The star from The Greatest Showman and Spider-Man: Homecoming is also known for never failing to get that sun-kissed glow in all her selfies and red carpets! The cool thing about Zendaya is that she does her own make up in majority of events that she attends, so you can bet her trick works like a charm.
In her make up video, she said that she uses Aquaphor as base for her highlight. If you’re wondering what that is, it’s like a petroleum salve with a balm-like consistency.
Since we don’t have Aquaphor in the Philippines, you can use any of your favorite clear lip gloss or balm and lightly dab it on the area where you want to apply your highlight!
2. Wet your highlighting brush with setting spray
Before we put our highlight on, we spritz our brush with setting spray so that the product really sticks and for the pigment to surely show. You’d be surprised how well this works – you can try this trick with your eye shadow too!
1. Use a gold/light eye shadow as highlight
Speaking of eye shadow, this is the simplest trick to get that blinding highlight. The pigment in metallic and light eye shadows could work just as well- maybe even better than an actual highlighter!
This is the trick we use most often because one, it saves us the trouble from spending extra cash on a highlighter, and two, most of our eye shadow palettes have at least one shade that can work as a highlighter already.
