If you’ve been following James Reid and Nadine Lustre closely, you may be all too familiar with Careless Music Manila.
Careless Music Manila or ‘CMM’ is the freshest music label in the Philippines. Gathering seven close friends with exceptional talents, CMM recently dropped a mixtape which features a collaborative effort of these seven Filipino artists. This includes CEO of CMM, James Reid, and Nadine Lustre.
The mixtape is composed of 15 original R&B-hip-hop tracks. The 7 artists dedicated half of their year in writing and recording these songs. But before we go to a deep dive into the alluring beats and tunes of Careless Mixtape, let’s get to know the talented Filipino artists behind the creation first.
Prior to releasing the mixtape, James Reid is already busy producing his third studio album, Palm Dreams in 2017. Palm Dreams also happened to be the first album under Careless Music Manila. As the CEO of his record label, James is achieving more creative freedom to show his authentic self. And he surely does not disappoint.
Looks like #TeamReal couple shares a lot in common and is very supportive of each other. Now that James is more serious and focused on making music, Nadine, on the other hand, supports the new project of her bae. Earlier this year, Nadine’s single St4y Up was released by CMM, garnering views over 2 million times on YouTube. She wrote the song I Like It, in Side A of the mixtape.
You’ll know him in in PBB Teen Clash 2010 with his best friend, James Reid, as they jam in acoustic tunes. But this time, Bret Jackson is now known as KingwAw in the trap music industry. Still BFFs with James, they both venture into music together.
Singer, rapper, and songwriter Curtismith is known for his original indie music and appearances in big music festivals. Curtismith is also active in collaborating with other Filipino artists like Kiana Valenciano, Jess Connelly and Noel Cabangon for Coke Studios Season 1. Now, Curtismith collaborates with the Careless crew in the tracks, Extra Rice, All I Need, POB, and 150.
Although Luke Hassan A.K.A Astro Kidd came from another country while carrying a whole different culture, the musician surely carries the same love for music along with the local artists of CMM. Astro Kidd also does modeling gigs alongside his rising name in the underground music scene in Manila.
Half-Ghanaian, half-Filipino Haissam from Dumaguete Morton aka Massiah is brought in Manila by Bret Jackson. Bret, who is also from Dumaguete, introduced the very talented Massiah in the music scene. Before CMM, Massiah makes rap and r&b songs that are available in Spotify.
The youngest member of the crew, 19-year-old Sofia Romualdez first worked with Bret more than a year ago. Bret introduced her to James and Nadine which brought her to the coolest crew in trap music scene in Manila.
Now that you’ve met the crew, don’t forget to share this post with your favorite track from the mixtape!
