The fans are totally buzzing over the prospect of Elio and Oliver meeting again for the sequel of Call Me By Your Name! Winning Best Adapted Screenplay at the Oscars, the director, Luca Guadagnino reveals that there is indeed, going to be a second movie.
The film, based on André Aciman’s book of the same name, has everyone gushing over Elio and Oliver’s realistic summer love in Italy. The award-winning film’s director excitedly shares that the next movie will be set five or six years after the first one and it will still be starring Armie Hammer and Timothee Chalamet.

“They’re gonna go around the world.”
That’s the hint we’ve got so far from the director himself. In an interview with USA Today, he shares that he will need to finalize the script with Aciman, the author of the original book, before scheduling a filming date.
“I’m already conceiving the story with André Aciman, and it’s gonna happen five or six years afterwards,” Guadagnino shares.

“It’s gonna be a new movie, a different tone.”
He says that the next film may tackle the issue of AIDS head-on, he says in an interview with The Hollywood Reporter.
“I think Elio will be a cinephile, and I’d like him to be in a movie theater watching Paul Vecchiali’s Once More,” which is a 1988 French movie about a man falling in love with another man after leaving his wife. It is also the first french film to deal with AIDS.
He hints that it could be the first scene in the sequel.
Twitter Reacts
It’s no surprise that CMBYN has made a large fan base after the first movie. Elio and Oliver’s heartbreaking story is all sorts of sad and realistic. It depicts the sad parts of love in any relationship. No homophobia, no antagonists, no tragedy. In fact, it may as well be the reason why the film is so beautiful; how love is normal and real, regardless of gender.
After news broke that there’s going to be a sequel, here’s what the fans have to say:
All the "call me by your name is sick bcuz elio is 17" people when sequel is released and elio is no more 17 so they don't have anything reasonable to complain about pic.twitter.com/q7of0Mr2xw

I admire Michael Stuhlbarg and Amira Casar so much for how they portrayed the Perlmans. Both totally vital to the success of the film and thoroughly underrated. More of them in the sequel please, Luca #CMBYN pic.twitter.com/vY9FG1h8iy

Unpopular opinion but I don’t want them to make a sequel to cmbyn. I’m scared they’re gonna ruin it and if they really wanna film the epilogue then make it a short film

The year is 2022, CMBYN's sequel is yet to be premiered and I'm overanalyzing how Elio asks to his penis ''do I know you?'' while he's peeing before meeting Oliver in the balcony connecting it to the desire that he is yet to know fully and is just able to feel superficially
