John Lloyd Cruz Earns Nomination At 5th International Cinephile Society Awards

While at his indefinite showbiz leave, veteran actor John Lloyd Cruz earns an acting nod in an international award giving body, International Cinephile Society Awards for his performance as Best Supporting Actor in Lav Diaz’s Ang Babaeng Humayo (The Woman Who Left). The 228-minute film was also nominated for Best Adapted Screenplay and Best Film (not in the English Language). Related: John Lloyd Cruz Joins Ellen Adarna’s Family Portrait After having won the top prize at the 73rd Venice International Film Festival in 2016, Ang Babaeng Humayo continues to catch the attention of the international cinema scene. Starring Charo Santos and John Lloyd Cruz, Ang Babaeng Humayo tells the story of Horacia, a school teacher who spent 30 years in a correctional facility for a crime she did not commit.

On October 2016, ABS-CBN announced in a press statement that John Lloyd Cruz will be taking a break from showbiz to attend to personal matters. No word yet has been released on his return.
Currently, John Lloyd Cruz is still on his indefinite leave but is seen most of the time hanging out with his rumored girlfriend and former co-star Ellen Adarna in Cebu. Last 2017, they traveled places together and then went home for Christmas wherein JLC joined the family portrait of the Adarnas, seemingly signifying that he’s part of their family already.
