Sue Ramirez Shines In "Ang Babaeng Allergic Sa Wifi"

Direk Jun Lana brings back old-school courting in one of his two film entries in the Pista ng Pelikulang Pilipino 2018 Ang Babaeng Allergic sa Wi-Fi starring Sue Ramirez, Jameson Blake, and newcomer Markus Paterson. RELATED: Sue, Jameson, and Markus for Inside Showbiz Weekly Ang Babaeng Allergic Sa Wi-Fi tells the story of Norma (Ramirez), the new girl in school who caught they eye of shy Aries (Blake) but ends up being in a relationship with his basketball superstar brother, Leo (Paterson), thus leaving Aries in a peculiar friend-zoned situation. Later in the movie, Norma gets diagnosed with electronic hypersensitivity syndrome (EHS), a rare illness where one gets sick when exposed to electromagnetic waves which includes Wi-Fi. Norma is then sent to live with her grandmother in the province while her family figures out how to heal her, then having to leave her life in the city including Leo.

The movie is honest and playful. Jun Lana brings his audience to a place where social interaction is made through personal dialogues and grand gestures. The film sets a contrast between the modern reality which is saturated with social media against the purity of personal interactions built on dialogues and physical activities done together.
The film is brought to life by the colorful and genuine performances of the whole cast but most notably of course would be of the three main leads. Sue Ramirez brought to life a Norma that was soft spoken and girly which is far from the loud and tomboy-ish Sue that her fans know. Soft-spoken as she is, Norma was the brightest star throughout the whole film. She told the love story that she shared with both Leo and Aries with such sincerity.

The love triangle of Norma, Leo, and Aries was hyped up by the performance that was delivered by Markus Paterson. He is the newcomer joining Sue and Jameson but his performance was not one of a beginner’s. It was easy to love and hate him at the same time because of how adorably he played the douche-y role of Aries’ older brother.
And last of the honorable mentions on this review but definitely not the least is Jameson Blake. In his recent roles he has played the shy and nerdy guy character so well but he brought this and so much more in his performance as Aries. Falling in love with Norma at first sight, Jameson was also able to make his audiences do the same for his character. From start to finish you will be rooting for him to win Norma’s heart.
All in all the movie was a delightful journey that will show audiences the beauty of personal connections when not made through social media. It showed how young love could bloom in a time of social media connections- a beautiful story that was brought to life by a stellar cast. Read more:
