At the age of 19 years old, Sabrina Carpenter is off to reach her childhood dreams of sharing her music with the whole world!
That includes Manila as she takes the spotlight this August 24-26 for her promotional tour with her brand new single, “Almost Love” at Megaworld Lifestyle Malls. In her exclusive interview with MEG, she spills to our editor, Elyse Ilagan, what keeps herself happy and the fears she had to face in every show.
A week before today, I got the news that I would have a one-on-one interview with Sabrina Carpenter. I was ecstatic for getting that opportunity since I’m a fellow fangirl myself. So I’ve been talking to Sabrina’s fans on Twitter and we talked about her new music, her Disney show, and her upcoming album. When I told Sabrina about me, talking to her fans, the first thing she asked was: “Were they nice?”
And indeed they were.
I see now where her fans got the same energy. Because Sabrina was simply radiating with kindness and sincerity as soon as she walked into the room. It honestly felt like I was talking to an old-time friend. But Sabrina, who is only 19 years old, is just getting started. Like us, she looks up to incredible musicians too. Christina Aguilera, Adele, Rihanna, and Beyonce were just some of the incredible artists that inspire her to not only sing but perform on stage for her fans.
Sabrina also mentioned that what keeps her going was her desire to keep making music. Which is why she said that her third album, “Singular” would contain songs that mean a lot to her. It will come out this year but Sabrina kept mum on the actual release date.

Kids are looking up to you as they grow up. Have you ever found it difficult to be a role model for the youth since you’re also just a 19-year-old girl, maturing under the spotlight?
I can’t really think of myself as a role model. I just like to think about making the decisions that I, myself, feel good about making. Because if you try to think about everybody else then you end up not making yourself happy.
How do you use your platform to spread positivity and acceptance to the younger generation?
I do think that with everything that I try to do, I put a lot of thought behind it and I try, you know, to make sure that I’m authentic and I’m honest. Because that in itself I think is being what would be close to being a good role model. If they choose to look up to me then I am honored cause they have a lot of choices, so it’s really really kind of them.
What has been the most rewarding part of touring so far?
Honestly, probably getting off-stage every night and feeling like I’ve accomplished or like, faced one of my fears. Which maybe isn’t performing but sometimes, just maybe, getting through a show that I didn’t think I was ready to do. I just come off knowing a little bit more about myself.
Out of all the tracks that you’ve made so far, which song means the most to you?
Ooooh. Probably a song off of my new album. But if not, actually a song that I love so much and that will probably mean a lot to me in the future – and still now – is ‘Alien’ which is my collab with Jonas Blue. We wrote that in London and the song just means a lot to me and we’re really happy we got to do it together!
What was the best life advice that was ever given to you?
Oh wow. Life’s too short to not love what you’re doing. Love the people that you’re with and have fun!
