In case you’ve been waiting for the next series to binge-watch on Netflix, there’s a new one coming.
Netflix has officially announced that The Baby-Sitters Club is already in the works. The Anne M. Martin young adult novel is going to be a live-action series and Clueless star, Alicia Silverstone will be part of the cast.
If you haven’t seen the book series yet, the plot follows the lives of five teens a.k.a The Baby-Sitters Club – Kristy Thomas, Mary Ann Spier, Claudia Kishi, Stacey McGill, and Dawn Schafer – who ventured the babysitting business facing a roller coaster ride of fun and adventure. That sounded like the next big thing in the streaming giant. The book series was first shown as TV series in 1990 on HBO with 13 episodes. After, it was adapted as a film in 1995.
Without the official release date yet, everyone seems to be more than excited about the 10-episode Netflix series after cast reveal. Alicia Silverstone – the actress behind the iconic character, Cher in the film Clueless – takes the role of Elizabeth Thomas-Brewer, Kristy Thomas’s mother. Mark Feuerstein joins the cast as Elizabeth’s love interest.
We can totally sense the show being a hit as the showrunner will be Glow and Supergirl screenwriter Rachel Shukert, with the directing of Broad City’s Lucia Aniello.
